BENGALURU: Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, accompanied by Smt Sudesh Dhankhar and Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, visited the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) plant in Karnataka. This marked a historic occasion, as Shri Dhankhar became the first Vice President to visit the facility since India’s independence.
Welcoming the Vice President, Union Minister for Steel and Public Enterprises, Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are honored to host the Vice President at our BHEL unit. His visit is a testament to the importance of this institution and its contribution to the nation. We seek his blessings for the further development of this plant.”
Highlighting BHEL’s critical role in India’s self-reliance, Kumaraswamy said, “In an era where we are witnessing the disinvestment of several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), BHEL has not only survived but thrived, thanks to the relentless hard work of its employees.”
The Union Minister underscored BHEL’s impressive performance, sharing, “In the financial year 2023-2024, we secured orders worth ₹69,000 crore. This year, our orders are worth ₹1.7 lakh crore, and I am confident that under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, BHEL will play a pivotal role in achieving the Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision and the goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”
The Vice President’s visit was also an opportunity to showcase the operational capabilities of BHEL and its contributions to India’s energy and manufacturing sectors. Kumaraswamy added, “BHEL’s resilience and commitment make it a cornerstone of India’s industrial growth and an essential player in the nation’s march toward self-reliance.”
The event concluded on a high note, with the Vice President appreciating BHEL’s efforts and assuring support for its continued success.
