Bengaluru: The Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, conferred an honorary doctorate upon Dr. Babu K. Viregowda at a prestigious ceremony held in the Banquet Hall of Raj Bhavan. The University of Mysore bestowed this honor in recognition of Dr. Viregowda’s remarkable contributions to infrastructure development and social service.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted the University of Mysore’s rich legacy, stating, “As the sixth-oldest university in India and the first in Karnataka, this institution has nurtured outstanding scientists, philosophers, and leaders who have significantly contributed to the state and the nation.”
He further emphasized the importance of honoring individuals who have made exceptional contributions to education, science, literature, and social sciences. “It is commendable that the University of Mysore continues to recognize distinguished personalities whose work has played a vital role in the country’s progress,” he remarked.
Praising Dr. Babu K. Viregowda’s achievements, the Governor noted, “As Vice President of the North Eastern Division of HNTB and Chief Transport and Traffic Engineer, Dr. Viregowda has successfully led numerous complex infrastructure projects. His expertise in high-level infrastructure management has had a far-reaching impact. I extend my heartfelt congratulations and hope his contributions continue to inspire others.”
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Govinda Raju, University of Mysore Vice Chancellor Prof. N.K. Loknath, and other esteemed dignitaries.
