“Bribery at 60%! Even contractors favoring Congress are complaining,” alleges Union Minister
“The government is looking for excuses to stop guarantees,” alleges the Union Minister
Mysuru: Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has leveled serious allegations against the Congress government, claiming that even housing allocation for the poor involves bribery. He alleged that the percentage of bribery has reached 60%.
Responding to questions from the media in Mysuru on Sunday morning, Kumaraswamy said, “Even Congress party workers have admitted that 60% commission and bribes are being collected under the Congress government.”
“Bribes are being taken even in the allocation of houses for the poor. Earlier, it was the Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) who collected bribes. But now, ministers in Vidhana Soudha are openly accepting bribes. Is this what you call Satyameva Jayate? For them, Satyameva Jayate is merely an advertising slogan,” he mocked.
“Is Chief Minister Siddaramaiah living by Gandhiji’s principle of Satyameva Jayate? Let him answer his own conscience. Is there no limit to their greed for looting public funds?” Kumaraswamy lashed out at the Congress government and CM Siddaramaiah.
“The condition of contractors in the state is pathetic. Even contractors who support Congress are now saying that the previous BJP government was better. Siddaramaiah and the Congress party will have to pay a heavy price for this in the coming days,” Kumaraswamy warned.
“The government is looking for excuses to halt guarantees!”
Kumaraswamy also criticized the Congress government for increasing state bus fares by 15% at one go. “The Congress government is trying to find reasons to stop its guarantees. They are looking for excuses to somehow discontinue the guarantees,” he alleged.
“Under no circumstances should the five guarantees be stopped. You yourselves have said that these guarantees benefit a large section of the people. Then why is the government snatching them away from the very people who voted you into power? The state government is playing with the lives of the middle class,” he said angrily.
“Like the saying taking from one pocket to give to the other, is this government robbing the people to give them their own benefits? The bus fare hike will burden the common man. No minister’s children or MLA’s children travel by government buses. Only common people use them. Even an additional Rs. 10 per day is a burden for them,” he said with concern.
“When people question the fare hike, ministers respond arrogantly, asking if they don’t eat meat. Why are they so bothered about whether the poor eat meat? Do they even understand the struggles of the poor and middle-class families who save up to buy meat just once a week? Do they know how malnourished children are struggling? What about programs to address malnutrition? Do they lack this basic understanding?” Kumaraswamy questioned harshly.
