New Delhi: The historic Srirangapatna-Arsikere State Highway 7 is set to be upgraded to a National Highway following approval from Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
Mandya MP and Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, played a crucial role in securing this approval. During a meeting in New Delhi, Kumaraswamy, along with K.R. Pet MLA H.T. Manjunath, discussed the significance of this project with Gadkari in detail.
The proposed National Highway will pass through key regions including Srirangapatna, K.R. Pet, Pandavapura, Channarayapatna, and Arsikere, linking major taluks and cities. This highway is expected to provide a significant economic boost to the region, particularly benefiting the tourism, agriculture, and industrial sectors.
Key Benefits Highlighted:
Kumaraswamy emphasized how the upgraded road would help transport agricultural produce such as milk and vegetables from rural areas to major cities like Mysuru, Bengaluru, and Hassan. It will also improve connectivity to popular tourist destinations like Srirangapatna and the world-famous Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary.

K.R. Pet MLA H.T. Manjunath expressed his gratitude to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the project and lauded Kumaraswamy for his persistent efforts. “The upgradation of this State Highway to a National Highway will bring immense benefits to the people of Mysuru, Mandya, and Hassan districts. Kumaraswamy’s dedication in securing approval is commendable,” he said.
